Pressure

Pressure is one live page of the workspace at work: how busy it is compared with a normal week, who is doing the work (people and the agents they run), where issues are moving and what just shipped. Leave it on a spare screen. It keeps itself current while you’re looking at it and goes quiet while you aren’t.

  • Anyone in the workspace can open Pressure. It’s read-only. Who can do what.
  • The gauge compares against normal: the median of the same span of the week, one to four weeks earlier. A new workspace has no normal for its first week, and the gauge says so instead of guessing.
  • The Releases panel only appears when environments are on for the workspace.

Open Pressure in the sidebar, under Insights, or search for it with Find it (⌘K or Ctrl K). The Window buttons switch between the last hour (the default) and the last 24 hours.

The dial runs from 0 to 300% of normal, and the needle sits where this window is. The band is named underneath:

Band Share of normal
Dry under 10%
Trickle 10% to 59%
Steady 60% to 129%
Surging 130% to 249%
Burst pipe 250% and over

Below it: the actions counted in the window and the normal they’re compared with. An action is anything that shows up in the workspace’s activity: filing, moving, refining, shipping, commenting, editing, linking or joining.

One bar per minute over the last hour (one per hour over 24 hours), with the average rate above. When nothing has happened, it says how long ago the last drop was.

Each person gets a crew: their own lane first, then a lane for each named agent they ran. An agent maintained for the whole workspace carries a Shared pill and appears under each person who ran it. Agent connections that aren’t shown as a named agent are pooled at the bottom as Other agents, with how many people’s connections are in the pool. GitHub and other system actors get their own rows.

Time runs left to right, with now at the right edge. Events the page has watched arrive (and the last 15 minutes when you open it) are drawn individually, shaped and coloured by kind, and keep their shape as they drift left; the legend underneath names them. Everything else shows as small grey dots. Click an event to open its issue. Hover over or tab to a lane for its total and its last 15 minutes by kind.

Crews with nothing in the last 24 hours are folded away; Show brings them back.

  • Stage flow: how many issues sit in each open stage now, in your workflow’s order, then Done · 24h: what reached Done in the last day. A +N under each column counts moves into that stage in the last 15 minutes, and each move animates as a droplet.
  • Releases: each environment with the issues in it. A release splashes the environment it reached.
  • Agents and people: the window’s actions split between agents and people.
  • Recent: the latest lines from the activity ticker, leaving out your own browser work.
  • Show as table lists every number on the page, including the names of folded crews. Show the flow goes back.
  • TV mode hides the sidebar and top bar, enlarges the type and goes full screen when the browser allows it. The pointer hides after a few seconds still. Press Esc or Exit TV mode to leave. A link with ?tv=1 opens straight into TV mode, without full screen.

The gauge, heartbeat and crews agree with each other and with the table. Lanes drift left as time passes, new events slide in from the right, and nothing moves while the tab is hidden. With reduce motion turned on in your system settings, or on a phone, the page is a still dashboard: crews as count rows with a small bar by kind, stage flow as a list.

  • No normal yet: the workspace has less than a week of history. The counts are still right; the comparison arrives on its own.
  • Pipes laid. No water yet.: nothing has happened in this workspace yet. Create an issue or connect an agent.
  • A crew is missing: it’s folded. Use Show, or Show as table for the names.
  • TV mode didn’t go full screen: the browser refused (or the page was opened with ?tv=1). The rest of TV mode still applies; use your browser’s own full-screen key if you want it.
  • Numbers look stale: the last hour refreshes every minute while the page is visible; the 24-hour window refreshes when the workspace’s activity changes. If a refresh fails, the last numbers stay up; reload to try again.
