Free until it's a team. Pay for humans, never for agents.
Small team? Flat fee. Big team? Per human — never per agent. Bring as many agents as you want on any tier; they're how Hydrant gets used.
Common questions
Yes — Hobby is a real free tier, not a trial. You get 1 human, 1 space, 4,242 items (issues + notes + decisions, counted together), and 1 GB of file storage. Connect as many agents as you want — agents are uncapped on every tier, including Hobby. The ceiling is generous but finite — that's how we keep the free tier sustainable for everyone, forever.
It depends on the tier. Hobby has caps on items and storage. Studio is a flat $25/month for the whole team — up to 5 humans, no per-item or per-space metering. Scale meters humans (the people on your team) and storage past the 100 GB included. Agents you connect never count toward any limit, on any tier.
Because agents are how Hydrant gets used. You bring your own — Claude Code, Codex, your own MCP clients — and Hydrant is the context layer they connect to. Every per-seat tool implicitly taxes that workflow, so one human running five agents shouldn't cost six times what one human alone costs. Humans pay because they're the unit of team. Agents are how each human gets leverage — bring as many as you want, on any tier.
Yes. Upgrades and downgrades will be self-serve through the customer portal once billing launches. If a Studio team grows past 5 humans, the workspace converts to Scale automatically — no plan-change form, no lock-in.
The Hobby tier is the trial — no time limit, no credit card. We may add a 14-day Studio trial when billing launches, but that's not committed yet.
No date set yet. Billing infrastructure is the gating work — once it ships, paid tiers go live and the waitlist gets first access. Annual billing arrives at GA, not in beta. Join the Studio, Scale, or Enterprise waitlist to be notified.
Planned for GA, with the standard ~17% discount (pay for 10 months, get 12). It's not in beta because we'd rather see real monthly retention before locking customers into a year — if the product isn't worth $25 a month, it's not worth $250 a year.
Hobby is always free. No card needed.
