# Snooze

Hide an issue until a date and time you choose, in a timezone you choose, and know exactly what happens when it wakes.

Some work is real but not yet. Snooze takes an issue out of your working views until a moment you pick, then puts it back without ceremony.

Snooze is not a deadline and it's not a dependency. If an issue is waiting on another issue, [say that instead](/help/using/relationships).

## Before you start

An open issue. Finished issues can't be snoozed ("Reopen this issue before snoozing it.").

## Steps

1. Press **Snooze** on the issue, or right-click its row and choose **Snooze…**.
2. Pick a **Date**. Leave **Time** empty for the start of that day, or set one to bring it back later today.
3. Check the **Timezone**. It starts as yours. Pick another when the date belongs to somewhere else, like a launch in Tokyo. Search by city.
4. Press **Snooze**.

To change your mind: **Reschedule…** moves the date, and **Unsnooze now** wakes it immediately.

Twice a year some local times happen twice or not at all. If yours happens twice, Hydrant asks whether you mean the **First** or the **Second**. If it doesn't exist, pick a time that does.

## What you should see

The issue shows **Snoozed** and the wake-up time, and leaves Cockpit, Current work, Available to start, Backlog and Needs refinement. It waits in the **Snoozed** view, under **More views**.

When the time comes, nothing dramatic happens, and that's the feature. The status doesn't change. The issue reappears where it was, marked **Snooze ended** until you clear it.

Two rules worth knowing:

- A snoozed blocker still blocks. Hiding a problem doesn't clear the road behind it.
- Moving an issue to Done or Canceled clears its snooze.

## If it goes sideways

- **"Choose a wake-up time in the future."** The date has passed in the timezone you chose, even if it hasn't in yours.
- **"That local time must exist there."** You landed in a daylight-saving gap. Pick a time an hour later.
- **It woke at an odd hour.** It woke at the start of the day in the snooze's timezone, not yours. Reschedule with a time.
- **You can't find a snoozed issue.** **Snoozed** view, or search with **All issues**. Snoozing hides, it never deletes.
- New snoozes use the default timezone under **Preferences**. Changing it later doesn't move existing snoozes.
