# Get started

Sign in with GitHub, create a workspace and file your first issue in Hydrant.

From nothing to a tracked issue. Five minutes if you read slowly.

## Before you start

- A GitHub account. It's the only way to sign in, which means Hydrant stores no password for you to forget.
- A browser with JavaScript on.

## Steps

1. Go to [hydrant.dev](/) and press **Continue with GitHub**. Continuing means you agree to the [Terms](/terms) and [Privacy policy](/privacy). If either changes later, Hydrant asks again before letting you back in.
2. You land on **All workspaces**. With none yet, it says "Big plans. Zero workspaces." Press **Create workspace**.
3. Give it a **Workspace name**. Description, icon and color hide under **Description and appearance** and can wait. Press **Create workspace**.
4. Press **New issue**, or just press `c`. Type a title where it says "Name the problem." and press **Create issue**, or `⌘/Ctrl+Enter`.
5. Click the issue to open it. Status, priority, assignee and everything else sit beside the description.

## What you should see

Your issue in **Backlog**, with a number like `#1`. The workspace has an address of its own: its name plus a short code, like `hydrant.dev/side-project-k2m4p7q3xa`. Issues live under it at `/issues/1`. Bookmark either. Renaming the workspace doesn't break old links.

Hitting a limit locks nothing. Only new additions are refused until there's room. **Settings › General** shows where you stand. There's no checkout today; [Pricing](/pricing) has the current story.

## If it goes sideways

- **"Our front door is making a scene."** Hydrant couldn't reach GitHub to start sign-in. Try again. If it keeps happening, [check service status](https://status.hydrant.dev).
- **Sign-in finished on GitHub but not here.** Try again. If your browser blocks cookies for hydrant.dev, it can't keep you signed in.
- **You were invited, but the workspace isn't listed.** Invitations wait under **Invitations** on All workspaces, and only for the GitHub account whose verified primary email matches the invitation.
- **"This account is suspended."** Email [bots@hydrant.dev](mailto:bots@hydrant.dev) if you think that's a mistake.
